Benefits of cYoga

SHORT TERM: by following a careful sequence the body is prepared for the intense asana, reducing the opportunity for injury and giving the student the chance to reach their best during the class in a safe way. By following cYoga, the body is less sore the following day, and all the directions of movement are compensated through a regular practice

MEDIUM TERM: by working on peak poses, the student remains challenged and motivated, getting ideas from the workshops to incorporate into their regular practice, keeping the flame alive.

LONG TERM: by practicing in this manner, we protect the body, extending the years of yoga, increasing the longevity of our practice. Why should we not practice in our eighties or nineties?

Adjustments: The Perfect Adjustment

Friday, May 2nd, 12:00pm-2:00pm

In this workshop, we will introduce the essential elements to create the perfect adjustment. From a grounded position, the placement and use of the hands, the use of your own weight and skeletal structure, reading when to stop, when to hold weight and when to let go, how to identify the most strenuous area in the pose and how to identify the lines of energy in the asana. We will do this by practicing hands on and learning from experience.

Adjustments: Adjusting Balance

Friday, May 2nd, 2:30pm-4:30pm

Of the three elements of a yoga pose, strength, flexibility and balance, balance is the most challenging to adjust. The teacher must be subtle, imperceptible, so the student can practice as if alone, trusting on one’s own capabilities, while allowing the nervous system to have an experience that it would not have been able to have without the adjustment.

Yoga: Twists and Arm Balances

Friday, May 2nd, 5:00pm-7:00pm

When we improve our flexibility and strength in the spine for twists and side bends, the rest of our practice also takes a leap. Anatomically, we’ll focus on the spine, neck, shoulder internal rotation and adductors. We’ll find new stability points and strengthen with the help of arm balances, inversions and multiple floor drills. This class is one of the most unique of the whole weekend.

Yoga: Backbends for Everyone

Saturday, May 3rd, 12:00pm-2:00pm

This workshop is packed with info about 4 of the most useful backbends to move your t-spine, strengthen lumbar, open shoulders & actively elongate flexors. If backbends are not your jam, this class is for you! Especial attention will be paid to increase shoulder flexion, while stabilizing this joint. We’ll also cover in depth a correct spinal segmentation, as well as understanding the important role of the deeper abs (TVA), obliques and pelvic floor. Expect a careful warm up, lots of isolated drills to incorporate into your routine, plenty of options to play with, and a few fun inversions. Not to be missed!

For Handstand Lovers

Saturday, May 3rd, 2:30pm-4:30pm

One of the most popular workshops, it includes a thorough warm up for shoulders, elbows and wrists, as well as deep abdominal work, gluts & leg activation. For alignment drills, with and without weight, we will alternate between wall and floor to not overload upper body but still reprogram nervous system. We will also work on resistance training, several kinds of jumps and entries into Handstands, eliminate bad habits and Q&A at the end. Though for all levels, this workshop is ideal for those that can already jump into Handstands against a wall.

Restorative Movement

Saturday, May 3rd, 5:00pm-6:30pm

The perfect ending for an intense day of yoga and handstands. This class follows the principles of the Feldenkrais technique to re-educate the nervous system, release tension and find new space in the body. By making gentle, simple and repetitive movements, we will allow our nervous systems to reprogram themselves and find the most optimal movement patterns. The body finds new ways to relate to their environment through gentleness and simplicity.

Yoga: Happy hips: from Pigeon to Yogidandasana

Sunday, May 4th, 12:00pm-2:00pm

This workshop will cover both external and internal hip rotation (ER/IR) while protecting knees, ankles and sacroiliac joints. Leg strengthening poses, squats, arm balances and a few inversions are a few of the postures we’ll play with. We’ll progressively reach deeper hip openers like “foot-to-armpit” (Yogidandasana), cover other alternatives, best practices, specific mobility drills and tips to enjoy this family of poses. Energetically, you’ll leave more connected to the extraordinary power of your hips.

Asana Clinic: Analyzing Arm Balances

Sunday, May 4th, 2:30pm-4:30pm

A one-of-a-kind workshop were we’ll discuss how the physical, energetic and emotional bodies interconnect in a number of arm balances and how to help students realize their full potential. We’ll take a look (and practice) several postures: how to adapt them for individual needs, why they look different on different bodies, alignment pillars, dos and don'ts, and much more. Perfect for those looking to develop a sharp eye as a teacher or avid practitioner.

Four Meditations to Change your Life

Sunday, May 4th, 5:00pm-6:30pm

Our goal will be to make meditation accesible to everyone. These meditations are simple while each offering very different results. We will start calming the mind, we will then talk to our spirit animal, we will then visit our spiritual guides and we will finish with a group meditation. Fun and insightful. Bring a notebook to makes lots of notes on your experiences.
