Why Eagle Yoga House?
We are a twelve-year old studio that focuses on relationships and the community. Your Teacher Training will consist of 200 hours of training, of which, 160 hours will be face to face contact with senior instructors who care about your success. In addition, 20 hours of asana and 20 hours of self-study are part of the curriculum. During your Teacher Training, specialists will be invited to deliver information and share different perspectives on specific modules.
What if you need extra help?
We will be available to support you if a session is missed or if you just need additional repetition. One of our lead teachers will be happy to spend extra time with you if you need more time to absorb the information.
Resources
EYH will provide a Syllabus (see below), and a 200 Hour Manual so that you can learn from the group and also learn in your own time. The book, ‘Light on Yoga’ by BKS Iyengar, will be required and referred to often throughout the training.
Who are your lead teachers?
Susan Helton (Lead)
I started yoga late in life, however, from my first yoga class I knew I wanted to teach and throw myself into the history and practices of yoga. I have been practicing for fifteen years and teaching for twelve. I have met several senior teachers who have been my mentors over the past decade. I learned there is so very much to this ancient practice and wanted to create a school that addresses all of the components of yoga. Eagle Yoga House created a curriculum and began teacher training in 2013. I am a certified Yoga Alliance teacher, and received my 500 hour teacher training in Denver in 2018 with Christina Sell. Since then, I have received a second three hundred hour certification and I continue to learn every day. I have over 12,000 hours of teaching since I opened Eagle Yoga House.
Christina Sell
Christina Sell has been practicing asana since 1991 and teaching since 1998. Known for her passion, clarity and creativity, Christina’s teaching style is a dynamic and challenging blend of inspiration, humor and hard work. Masterful at synthesis, her ability to harvest and transmit the unique contributions of various yoga methods is unparalleled. Christina believes that yoga practice can help anyone access their inner wisdom, authentic spirituality and clarify their highest personal expression.
Christina draws inspiration from many master teachers in Iyengar Yoga, Anusara Yoga and Bikram Yoga. She is a certified Anusara Yoga teacher, has authored three books, hosts a podcast, and maintains an active teaching schedule presenting seminars, intensives, trainings, and workshops worldwide.
Christina has a BA in Counseling and Education and an MA in Integrative Education and Curriculum Design. She resides in Bellingham, Washington with her husband, two very affectionate cats, and the world’s best dog, Locket. She enjoys practicing yoga, writing, reading, cooking, hiking, mountain biking, and lifting weights.
Do I need to be able to do all yoga poses?
No! No one can do all the poses. No one has the perfect body dimensions and other factors needed to do every pose. In this teacher training, we will focus on the health benefits, proper alignment, and modifications to enable all students to practice yoga.
How much teaching practice will I do?
There is a great deal to learn. Ultimately, the goal is to find your
voice. Practicing teaching in front of your fellow students can help reduce the stress of public speaking and create a teaching style that is your own. The only way to do this is practice. A clear and strong personal practice is the foundation or great teaching. Your best teaching will come from the things you have worked hard at. Your independent development outside of the classroom will be supported as much as your time in class with others.
