My first step toward yoga was a mental one. I began meditating and this played a role in a mental shift and realization of the mind/body connection. I began attending yoga classes in 2006 but it was a class at a power yoga studio in 2010 that truly ignited my love and passion for yoga. I was immediately drawn to the practice and found myself attending classes 5-6 times a week.
It began challenging and changing me mentally and physically. In 2013 I moved to the mountains of Idaho along with my husband and daughter. I kept up my yoga practice and study at home and would occasionally venture out to a studio or workshop . During this time I realized that I wanted to teach and bring that which made such a difference in my life to others.
Wondering if I could do this or if it was crazy, I called my teacher from my past studio and spoke with her about this idea of being a yoga teacher. She gently said, “You already knew the answer before you asked. You know the answer is yes!” This faith and confidence from a trusted teacher and mentor was all I needed to begin. It wasn’t long before I began teaching to friends and neighbors in my mountain community out of my home. This led to teaching a few classes a week in the Treasure Valley.
In May of 2016 I completed a 200hr teacher training program and became a Yoga Alliance Certified Instructor. I teach with passion and joy. I hope for each person I teach to tap into their fearless light that wants to burst out. To find peace and joy, strength and lightness, and self love. To honor the mind/body connection.
